The $9 Failover / Disaster Recovery / Backup Hosting plan is for customers who host their
primary web and/or email services in-house, or with a web host
that could be down for an extended number of days or weeks or
months in the case of disaster, that does not have redundant
server mirroring in distributed geographical reasons (on
different power grids.) If their
primary web and/or email server goes down for any reason,
traffic is automatically routed to our servers, providing high
percent uptime. How quickly the redirection takes place is
dependent on visitors' Internet Service Providers. Most
ISPs allow speedy changes to DNS changes, while some could delay
the visitor's redirection a number of hours. ISPs with
slow DNS updates are not a problem regarding email, since RFC
compliant mail servers retry sending failed messages, in most
cases for up to one week. (You should experience no lost
email, but some of your web site visitors might not be able to
connect to your web site for a number of hours, depending on
their ISP.) Web site visitors' who's ISPs update
name server information very often will be able to connect to
your web site within a matter of minutes. This hosting
plan also serves customers as an offsite backup copy of their
web site.You receive the
same services that our standard $19 per month Linux and Windows
web/email hosting plans provide, as a secondary / failover
web/email hosting service.
All of our email services are provided on Red Hat Enterprise
Linux servers. Web hosting is provided on either Red Hat
Enterprise Linux servers or Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
In order to use this service, our nameservers must be used in your domain name registration record.
