Microsoft FrontPage 2002 Basic / Quick Start Instructions
FrontPage allows you to publish a web both from your local computer to the server, and from the server to your local computer. It is always important and required, to have two copies of your site in this manner, one on your local computer and one on the server. This way if you make a mistake to one of the copies, you can publish the good copy over the bad copy.
To publish your web site from your computer to the server:
Start FrontPage
file - open web - C:\my documents\my webs\yourdomain (or wherever you store your local copy of the web site)
file - publish web - http://yourdomain.com -- put in user/password. it is fastest if the default selection is checked for "changed pages only" - that way only pages you have changed will upload, saving time and bandwidth.
You can also do the reverse procedure, publishing your site from the server to your computer:
Start FrontPage
file - open web - http://yourdomain.com -- put in user/password.
file - publish web - C:\my documents\my webs\yourdomain (or wherever you store your local copy of the web site)
